The World Cup is currently underway, and there are already two semifinalists. Brazil and the Netherlands will both exit the World Cup in the quarterfinals after falling short of Argentina and Croatia, respectively. Argentina had a 2-0 lead until the 83rd minute, but goals at that point and in the 90+11th minute ensured that penalties would be used to decide the game. There were tense exchanges during the game that led to Lionel Messi using harsh language at the post-game conference.

In the 35th minute, Argentina's Nahuel Molina scored the game's first goal, giving Messi a record-breaking assist. With his fifth assist, Lionel Messi has now surpassed Pele for the most assists in World Cup knockout stages.

Messi was awarded a penalty in the 73rd minute, and he converted it with ease to shatter yet another record. Argentina's top goal scorer right now is Messi. The game was eventually tied at 2-2 thanks to the Netherlands' sluggish comeback.

  • Lionel Messi addressed the Netherlands team with icy words

The players got into a fight, and the bench got involved because this game was so close. In total, 14 yellow cards and 1 red card were issued throughout this game. In the 128th minute of the game, Denzel Dumfries of the Netherlands was shown the red card. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martnez of Argentina won the game after blocking two efforts from the Netherlands in the penalty shootout. After the game, Messi had some harsh comments for the Duch team.

During a post-game presentation, Lionel Messi yelled at Netherlands striker Wout Weghorst, "What are you looking at, stupid?"

Fans have a range of opinions, but the majority believe that Wout did anything to lure Messi. Messi is known for playing with composure, but today the pressure got to him.
