Thomas Tuchel is wanted by Ghana three months after being fired by Chelsea. The former Blues coach is one of six candidates to succeed Otto Addo, who stepped down following the Black Stars' World Cup exit.
Thomas Tuchel is reportedly on Ghana's six-man shortlist to become the country's new coach.
In an unexpected turn of events, the former Chelsea manager, who was ruthlessly sacked in September after a poor start to the Premier League season, has been tipped to take charge of the Black Stars. The Ghanaian FA is preparing replacements for Otto Addo, who stepped down after his team failed to advance to the World Cup knockout stages.Tuchel is being pursued by African giants despite recently throwing his hat in the ring to succeed Gareth Southgate if the England manager steps down in the new year. According to Ghanaian media, the 49-year-old tactician is on a shortlist that also includes former Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Houghton.For the past ten months, Houghton, whose father is Ghanaian, has served as the Black Star's technical advisor. Another current member of the Ghana squad, the legendary George Boateng, is also thought to be in the running. Boateng, a former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough midfielder, was appointed as Addo's assistant in May, just two months after beating Nigeria in a tense World Cup play-off match.
Tuchel, now former South Korea manager Paulo Bento, Serbia coach Dragan Stojkovic, and Gambia coach Tom Saintfiet will join the duo who are already familiar with the task at hand.
