Newcastle will make a January move for Hakim Ziyech
Newcastle United, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, may be interested in signing Hakim Ziyech when the transfer window opens next month. The current contract of the 29-year-old player is set to expire in 2025.
Ziyech hasn't played for Chelsea this season and his time at the club could be coming to an end. Neither Thomas Tuchel nor Graham Potter appear to like the attacker, and he could be on the verge of leaving the club in January.
However, Ziyech has revived his fortunes with some strong performances in the World Cup, and given his current form, he could be given a chance in the starting lineup. Potter is in desperate need of some inspiring performances, and Ziyech could be the man to provide them.Newcastle's brilliant run in the Premier League has helped them secure third place for the time being, but the Magpies are considering filling their gap in the winter.A short-term loan could be advantageous for Ziyech, who will play his final World Cup match against Croatia in a third-place playoff on Saturday. He is known for his long-range shooting ability, and if given the opportunity to cut in on his left foot, he has the ability to decide games on his own.
De Marzio insisted that other teams are interested in his services, but Newcastle is also a possibility. "In the summer, Ajax and AC Milan were linked with him. But, in the final days of the transfer window, we contacted Milan, who told us on the record that they didn't want him at all because they were close to signing Charles De Ketelaere. "Ajax... That's another story; they're interested because his heart is still in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. They would be delighted to see you again. But, after the World Cup... Other Premier League clubs are expected to make loan offers to Chelsea. Newcastle, for example, is aiming for a place in the Champions League.
"And then it just depends on what the player wants, a rental period or a permanent deal. And I believe Ziyech will opt for the latter, so the question is which club can provide him with the best project."
Ziyech could go on to establish himself as a leader in West London, or he could be released as the Blues prepare for another squad overhaul next month.
