The Ghana Private Road and Transport Administrators (GPRTU) and the Ghana Street Transport Organizing Committee have concorded to lessen transport passages by 15.3 percent.
The reduction goes into effect on Monday, December 19. After a series of discussions, stakeholders came to an agreement.
When the price of gasoline and diesel decreased over the course of the week, commuters expressed concerns regarding the reduction in transportation options.
The reduction will affect shared taxis, trotros, Intercity vehicles, and haulage trucks, according to the union's statement.
The general public may recall that, following lengthy negotiations with stakeholders, a 19 percent increase in public transportation fares went into effect on October 29, 2022.
Stakeholders needed to be involved in the discussion of a reexamination of fares in accordance with the Administrative Instrument because of the recent decreases in the price of petroleum products.
As a direct consequence of this, a series of meetings for negotiation were held with the various stakeholders in an effort to reach an agreement on an acceptable level of fare reduction that is proportional to the current prices of fuel.
Following these dealings and regarding the predicament of Drivers, Suburbanites, and the Overall population, we have made plans to lessen the current vehicle charges by 15.3 percent.
Beginning on Monday, September 19, the new flowers will be in effect. Dec. of 2022.

"We kindly request that all Commercial Transport Operators comply with the new fares and post the same at their loading terminals," according to haulage.

The statement went on to say, "We take this opportunity to assure all Transport Operators and the General Public that we will continue to work in their interest."
In a previous meeting, the GPRTU stated that they wanted to determine whether the current reduction in petroleum products was sustainable and that they were not in a hurry to reduce fares.
