REVENGE: STAR WILL LOVE SNUBBING SPURS, A YEAR AFTER CONTE SCRAPPED PLANS TO SIGN HIM – OUR VIEW
What a year can do when you're Tottenham Hotspur or Liverpool.
According to Foot Mercato, the Spurs are interested in a certain Sofyan Amrabat - and why not?
After all, the Moroccan midfielder was arguably his country's best player during the World Cup, helping Morocco finish fourth.
The problem is that the player is reportedly set to reject Tottenham in favor of a move to Liverpool.
And, to be honest, who can blame him?
That's because the shoe was on the other foot 12 months ago, and the Lilywhites turned him down.
According to Alfredo Pedulla, the Lilywhites abandoned their plan to sign Amrabat last January despite him being one step away from becoming an Antonio Conte player at one point.
Of course, Tottenham went on to sign Rodrigo Bentancur, and given how good he's been this season, few fans will be disappointed. However, it appears that the North Londoners genuinely want Amrabat, and thus there is an element of vengeance if he rejects Conte on this occasion to join Jurgen Klopp's side instead.
Whether Liverpool are even keen remains to be seen, and that's important because if they drop out of the race then suddenly playing under Conte in the Champions League might not look such a bad alternative.
But for now, it does seem like he has his heart set on Anfield and that snub of 12 months ago won't have helped.
