Mr. Anas Aremeyaw Anas, popularly known in Africa and around the world as Anas, is a Ghanaian journalist. He is specialized in a type of journalism called the 'Investigative Journalism'.
The Anas' s type of investigative journalism utilizes anonymity or under- cover to 'unearth' corruptions within the government agencies or in the public sector.
According to experts, Investigative journalism is a form of journalism in which reporters deeply investigates topics of interest, such as serious crimes, political corruption, or corporate wrong- doings; and this involves months; or maybe years of researches, report preparations and reporting.
In Ghana and part of Africa, Anas became very popular for uncovering many corruption deals withing government sectors; and notable of these are; the 2015 investigation into Ghana' s judiciary (code- named ' Ghana in the Eyes of God'; and the 2018 exposé into the Ghana Football Association, called ' Number 12'.
After these exposés by Anas, almost every Ghanaian started developing trusts and confidence in works of Anas and his 'Tiger Eye PI Group', for successfully helping to expose corruptions and the abuse of power within our public offices.
It was withing these same period, when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo (then contesting the presidency); also saw the importance of the Anas' s investigative work.
In the year 2012, prior the the 2012 general elections; (during the third edition of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) presidential debate in Tamale), Nana Addo; when asked how he will deal with corruptions in the public sectors, when he wins power; he promised to use the Anas's investigative styles, which he termed ' The Anas Principle'.
Speaking at the debate, Candidate Nana Addo said, "I will use the ' Anas Principle' , setting up highly motivated professional groups of young people who will unearth examples of corruption wherever they can find it, and thereby allow the authority to deal with it".
The Anas Principle talked about here by Nana Addo simply means, he was going to put up measures to expose corrupt officials, prosecute them and finally jailing them.
Almost seven years into office as a president, we have heard of many corruptions allegations withing the Nana Addo- Bawumia government; but till date, we have never seen a single member of this government prosecuted or jailed for corruptions; yet the president promised dealing severely with corruptions in his government.
We still have the recordings of Nana Addo in our minds; when he promised using the ' Anas principle' to fight corruption, yet nothing is done.
Where is the Anas principle. . . Mr. President? Anas covers his face to expose corruption; are you also using the Anas principle to cover your corrupt officials?
