The National Cathedral of Ghana; also known as the ' National Cathedral' , is an interdenominational Christian cathedral currently under construction in Accra- Ghana. The construction of the cathedral was a a personal promise Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo- Addo (then New Patriotic Party Flag Bearer) made to God before becoming a president.
Just as other cathedrals around the world, the National Cathedral of Ghana; when completed, will house about 5, 000 seater auditorium, a baptistery, a music school, an art gallery, and a Bible museum. It will also be the first of it' s kinds in the history of the Republic of Ghana.
The Idea, and the construction of the Cathedral by President Nana Addo became a big controversy, and eventually dividing the Ghanaian population into two. Whereas a section of Ghanaian believes, that the construction of the cathedral is very necessary in serving as a national worship center for Christians in Ghana, others also thought it is a complete waste of money; especially at this times when there are severe hardships in the country.
The main point Ghanaians need consider here is not really how good or bad the construction of the cathedral is; but the main idea (the big Agenda) behind the construction.
What is the main idea or that big agenda behind the construction of a National Cathedral in Ghana? The answer is very simple.
In Ghana now, politics has successfully infected almost every aspect of people' s lives; to the extent, that some neutral areas like traditional and religious groups can no longer be trusted by the citizens. The popular 'agenda Wealth, Fame and Power', has now eaten into most of the leaders of these peace groups; and their priorities are no longer 'agenda going to heaven', but 'gaining wealth on earth'.
President Nana Addo; during the inauguration ceremony of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral on March 16, 2017, announced a 13- member board of trustee, who are all made up of the top leaders of the various well known Christians denominations in the the country. This is where the big agenda begins.
Why did President Nana Addo appoint almost all the top most respected and followed christian leaders, to head the National Cathedral board? The answer in my point of view is very clear. He appointed all these top Church leaders to hold the office of a Cathedral, so he can one way or other start manipulating and infecting them with politics.
What this means is. . . when things go wrong in his government, it will be very difficult for these christian leaders to speak against; just because they hold positions given them by the president.
In brief; and in my views, this is the hidden agenda of the president; to capture the various christian denominations through their leaders, to always be on the side of government when things go wrong.
