Afia Schwarzenegger has
expressed regret for the comments that led to the Tema High Court accusing her
of contempt.
The public figure in
show business is currently in court due to remarks she made on the United
Showbiz TV program on UTV requesting the court to show mercy in her lawsuit
with Chairman Wontumi.
She expressed her
sincere regret for her behavior in a letter to the court that she posted on
Instagram.
I, Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa,
nicknamed Queen Afia Schwarzenegger, sincerely apologize to the court and the
general public for my remarks made on the United Showbiz program on UTV.
In spite of my better
judgment, I participated on the panel for the aforementioned program that
covered, among other things, a legal issue.
Although I never
intended to get into the details of the situation, I have now realized that my
actions and words should have been taken with prudence and restraint, she
added.
"I completely apologize for
my acts, my conduct, and whatever part I may have played in the events that
followed on that broadcast. The discussion on the show had the potential to
cast doubt on the legitimacy of the Court.
"I will always
make an effort, starting now, to conduct my business in a way that won't
alienate the general public or attempt to undermine the legal system in our
country. I respect our courts and their authority, as I stated on that fateful
day, and I implore my supporters, sympathizers, and followers to draw the
proper conclusions from everything that has happened," she continued.
"I hope the court will
accept this honest apology from me. I reiterate my belief and confidence in the
ability of our courts to provide justice when it is due, and I will keep having
faith that the substantive case will be decided fairly and justly," she
said in her conclusion.
On December 1, 2022,
the court condemned Afia to 10 days in prison for contempt of court.
According to reports,
she was not present when the verdict was delivered, and as a result, the court
issued a bench warrant for her arrest.
But her legal team started
the legal procedures, which led to the felon being presented in court.
On Tuesday, December 20, Afia
appeared in court with her attorney Adrian Duke Amaning, who made a request on
notice to modify his client's sentence of 10 days in jail.
He claimed that Afia had shown regret
and had been in court with a written apology, which he had asked the judge to
approve so that her client may post it on social media.
Therefore, on January 17, 2023, the
court ruled over by Justice Emmanuel Ankamah will decide Afia's fate.
