‘If I’m Chelsea I am tabling a bid for him now. I think he is outstanding’ – Joe Cole
Chelsea legend Joe Cole has urged the club to sign Argentina World Cup goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who was instrumental in Argentina's World Cup victory.
Cole urged his former club to sign the keeper on the All to Play For podcast, saying, "You know what he is good at? Crossing, commanding, and you can tell he's in touch with his back four. He delivered in the big moments.
"If I'm Chelsea I am tabling a bid for him now. He was outstanding, in my opinion."However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano believes an Argentine winter transfer is unlikely. He stated to the House of Champions:
"I don't see him leaving in January because the goalkeeper market is so different.
"Take, for example, [Dominik] Livakovic. He has been fantastic for Croatia, but nothing is ongoing because the market is different there.
"Right now, every top club has a goalkeeper. Martinez's priority at the moment is to concentrate on Aston Villa."
