Dominik Livakovic and Josip Juranovic of Croatia are reportedly being considered for January signings by Manchester United.

According to a report from Sportske Novosti, Erik ten Hag is a big fan of the Dinamo Zagreb and Celtic players.

According to Media Foot, the 27-year-old goalkeeper will cost around €10 million (£9 million), while football journalist Ignazio Genuardi believes the Celtic right-back is worth around €20 million (£17 million).

Ten Hag appears to be eager to bolster his right-back and goalkeeping ranks at Old Trafford before the end of the January transfer window.

Both players are excellent operators, as they demonstrated during the World Cup in Qatar this winter. United and Ten Hag, on the other hand, should aim much higher.

Manchester United signing a Croatian World Cup duo would be a huge disappointment.

Livakovic and Juranovic are dependable players who will always give their all.

That could be argued to be the bare minimum that Ten Hag should expect from United players.

And the Dutchman should aspire to greater heights than the Croatian duo.

Juranovic, 27, is in no way superior to Diogo Dalot. In fact, he isn't even close to being as good as the Portuguese right-back.Meanwhile, Livakovic is not on the same level as David De Gea, and at 27, he will not be content to sit on the bench at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.

Ten Hag has a lot of work to do to turn his Manchester United team into a genuine title contender in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Any signing made by the Dutchman must be of the highest quality if he is to bring his team closer to Manchester City and Arsenal.

If the ex-Ajax manager wants a right-back and a goalkeeper, he should be willing to pay a high price for Denzel Dumfries and Diogo Costa.

Sure, they'll be exorbitantly priced, but do Ten Hag and the United owners want to return the club to its glory days?

United signing Livakovic and Juranovic in January would be a clear indication that neither the owners nor the manager have the necessary ambition to move the club forward. It would be a huge step back.
