“It’s all confirmed”- Romano claims Chelsea are close to announcing the arrival of Ivory Coast forward

Fabrizio Romano: David Fofana to Chelsea is nearing completion of medical tests.

Chelsea is one of the Premier League clubs vying for midfielder Andrey Santos.

According to Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano's tweet, Chelsea are close to announcing the arrival of David Datro Fofana after he passed his medicals. With the medical completed, the only thing left to do in terms of the deal's logistics is to reveal the player. The Blues will spend €12 million to bring him in.

Fofana is an Ivory Coast international who was previously with Molde in Norway before joining Chelsea.Fofana was outstanding for Molde in the recently concluded Norwegian top flight. In 24 appearances, he scored 15 goals and assisted five, and he looked dangerous every time he stepped onto the field. We've all heard of Erling Haaland, a dangerous striker who recently moved from Molde to the big European leagues.

Of course, we won't compare Fofana to Haaland right now, but the former has shown signs of becoming a top center-forward in the coming years.

The 20-year-old has the speed to run the channels and harass back-lines with runs in behind them. He is a strong finisher with the ability to drop deep, link up play, and create opportunities for others.Chelsea could have done with a striker or two in January after losing Armando Broja to a season-ending injury last week and seeing how the current number nine options have underperformed this season. Fofana is a good place to start. Let's see if we can squeeze in one more.

Fabrizio Romano: Following the completion of medical tests, David Fofana will be announced to Chelsea. It will also be interesting to see whether Graham Potter will use the 20-year-old right away in the senior side, or whether he will let him settle in and play some games for the youth team before moving up.

With what we've seen of Fofana in the last year, putting him in right away isn't a bad idea. Furthermore, Chelsea do not currently have a plethora of elite options in that position.
