According to the Sun, Edouard Mendy, who has allegedly been offered a contract by Tottenham Hotspur, has rejected Chelsea's latest contract offer.

Tottenham are rumored to be looking for a replacement for Hugo Lloris ahead of next summer's transfer window, with Yann Sommer (GiveMeSport), Jordan Pickford (TMW), and Emi Martinez (GiveMeSport) being mentioned as possible targets in recent weeks.

Mendy was another name mentioned previously, with 90 minutes reporting last month that the Chelsea shot-stopper had been offered to the Lilywhites.

The 30-year-old has lost his starting spot to Kepa Arrizabalaga this season, and The Sun now claims that he has turned down Chelsea's latest offer of a six-year contract.

According to the report, the Senegal international believes the Blues do not show him enough "respect" in terms of wages. The former Rennes player, who earns £100,000 per week, is said to want parity with Kepa, who is said to earn nearly twice as much.

According to the Sun, Chelsea has now withdrawn their initial contract offer to Mendy, resulting in a'stand-off' between the two parties.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Mendy does not sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge and becomes available for a low fee, Spurs will most likely avoid him. Antonio Conte would be looking for a much better goalkeeper to replace Lloris.

Liverpool consider Roberto Firmino extension offer

Late on Friday, an update on the future of Liverpool star Roberto Firmino was made available online.

It will no doubt come as a relief to those hoping to see the long-serving Reds attacker stay in Merseyside for the foreseeable future.

Firmino, of course, has had an extremely productive campaign thus far.

After scoring just five goals in the entire 2021/2022 Premier League season, the Brazilian has now scored seven times this season, giving him ten direct goal contributions in just 13 appearances. In turn, reports have begun to circulate that Firmino, who was expected to leave the club after his contract expired next summer, may instead stay. As previously mentioned, a new perspective on the situation has emerged online.

The information comes from the reputable Brazilian outlet UOL, which confirmed that the powers that be at Anfield are 'considering' offering their beloved frontman a new contract.

It is understood that the terms of any such proposal would last until the summer of either 2024 or 2025.
