The Polish striker beat out competitors such as Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Karim Benzema, among others, to win the award.

Thierry Henry, Eusebio, and Gerd Muller each received the award on two occasions. This feat was accomplished by the French national player in the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons.

Neymar Collects "Player Of The History" Award On Behalf Of Fellow Brazil Legend Pele

Pele, the legendary former Brazil striker, has been named "Player of the History" by official FIFA World Cup partner Budweiser.



Pele appeared in four World Cups between 1958 and 1970, scoring 12 goals in 14 games.


Brazil won three of those tournaments, in 1958, 1962, and 1970, and Pele remains the only triple World Cup winner to this day.


So fellow Brazil icon and current team captain Neymar accepted the award from Budweiser on his behalf.In an Instagram video, Neymar told his 198 million followers: "Today is a big day for me.


"First and foremost, I wanted to inform you that I was invited to attend the Budweiser ceremony in which Pele was awarded the 'Player of the History' trophy.


"Being a part of this historic occasion is an incredible honor for me."


Neymar added: "You all know how important Pele is to me. Our love and respect for you, king, will last forever."Pele and Neymar currently share the title of Brazil's all-time leading scorer, with each recording 77 official goals for their country.


An Instagram post shared by Neymar and Budweiser showed the current Brazil captain holding the trophy he had collected for Pele.



The caption, which was translated from Portuguese, read: "The man who made football his kingdom.


"The person who, rather than starting wars, ended them. The one who used his power to charm the entire world.


"The one who defied the sovereign. The one who was admired. The man who established his own dynasty. The one who inspired the youth.


"He who built an empire. He who possessed all of the gold cups. The one who wasn't just the man of the match. He was the best.
