Luis Suárez 'agrees' transfer and will reunite with former Liverpool teammate
According to a South American report, former Liverpool and Barcelona forward Luis Suárez has decided on his next move.
The Uruguayan forward, 35, left Nacional earlier this year, and according to Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, he has chosen a move to Brazilian side Grêmio, with Mexican side Cruz Azul also being considered.
If Suárez joins Grêmio, he will reunite with Lucas Leiva, a former Anfield teammate. Lucas left Liverpool for Lazio before returning to Brazil in the summer.
Lucas was recently advised to avoid playing and training until further tests were completed after a potential heart issue was discovered during a routine scan.He issued the following statement on Twitter: "The Medical Department of Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense reports that after alterations were discovered in one of the athlete Lucas Leiva's routine pre-season exams, he was subjected to additional evaluations and referred to a specialist.
"Following the completion of the evaluations by doctors Leandro Zimerman and Ricardo Stein, it was determined that the athlete should refrain from high-performance physical activities for two to three months, during which he will be accompanied, monitored, and guided by the Club's medical team and the aforementioned specialists.
"Following this period, Lucas will be subjected to additional examinations and evaluations to determine the evolution of his clinical condition."
