Mr. John Buadu; the former General Secretary of the Ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has broken his silence for the first time since voted out of office (as a General Secretary) in July this year.
According to Mr. John Buadu, though he has been relieved since voted out of the position, he still missed his former role as a General Secretary of the NPP; and that, he now has much time to bond with his family, especially his 7-year-old son.
Speaking on JoyNews’s programme; 'The Probe on Sunday', the former NPP General Secretary revealed that, "I am grateful to be relieved of he kind of burden that came with the role...I was missing a lot, I didn’t even know".
He revealed further that, "Weeks ago, my son asked me ‘Daddy are you John Boadu or Nana Akufo-Addo?’ I was confused and asked him ‘Why are you asking me this question?’ he said one of his mates asked him whether his father is John Boadu or Nana Akufo-Addo. So I asked him what answer he gave and my son said he doesn’t know".
Speaking to the programme host Emefa Ampawu, John Buadu narrated further; that, “...this is because he sees me once in a while. In the morning some people come to my house, we have a meeting, and we leave and return in a week’s time. Sometimes I return and he’s gone to school so there was little interaction. So I can only imagine what my elder children went through”.
He added that, "If it wasn’t for this defeat I wouldn’t have known. So I think all these things are God’s plan to shape you in order for you to understand some things. Now I help him with his homework, I go to his PTA [Parent Teacher Association] meetings, I get in touch with teachers and I think that I need that kind of atmosphere as well”.
Mr. John Buadu was the immediate former General Secretary of the Ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). He became an interim General Secretary of the party in 2015, following the suspension of the then incumbent, Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong. He was then elected General Secretary of the party in the year 2018 to continue the role.
In his quest to seek re-election, Mr. Buady lost the position to Mr. Justin Frimpong Koduah, in a keenly contested party's election in July 2022 at the Accra Sports Stadium-Accra.
At the Party's delegate conference, the current General Secretary of the NPP- Mr. Justin Frimpong Koduah, polled 2,857 votes to beat Mr. Boadu; who obtained 2,524 votes out of the total 5,556 votes cast.
