Hibernian defeated 10-man Livingston 4-0 in an exciting contest to snap a record of seven losses in eight Premiership games.

The Easter Road team beat Livi for the first time in five games, relieving pressure on manager Lee Johnson and boosting confidence ahead of champions Celtic's arrival on Wednesday.

Livi had Jason Holt sent off after only 15 minutes of play, and Hibs scored three goals in just eight minutes of the first half. In the 33rd minute, Kevin Nisbet scored the game-winning goal for his second goal in as many games since making a nine-month recovery from a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Two minutes later, Chris Cadden extended the lead for the home team, and Kyle Magennis made it three against the depleted visitors in the 40th minute.

Early in the second half, Magennis added a second goal, and late on, Hibs captain David Marshall made two outstanding penalty saves in quick succession to preserve the home team's perfect record.

As the game got underway, Hibs, who had dropped four straight matches since defeating St Mirren over two months prior, had a chance to take the lead after only 10 seconds.

Elie Youan sprinted into the left side of the box, but Nisbet missed the winger's low cross by only millimeters. Ryan Porteous, who was used in an unconventional midfield position, played a great long ball that Nisbet sprinted onto in the third minute.

The Livi goalie Ivan Konovalov appeared to be taken off guard by the Scotland striker's close-range shot. In the 12th minute, a ball over the top at the other end came close to giving Livi the lead. The Hibs defense crowded out Bruce Anderson after Ayo Obileye's long pass picked out his run. Anderson then unsuccessfully appealed for a penalty.

As both teams went for the kill, Dylan Bahamboula blasted a shot just wide of the goal, while Konovalov stopped a Youan attempt for Hibs. The game's turning point then occurred in the 15th minute when Holt received a straight red card.

As the midfielder followed through on Cristian Montano's errant pass and collided with Nisbet, referee Craig Napier was supported by video assistant referee technology in ejecting the former Hearts and Rangers player.

The dam broke in the 33rd minute even though Livingston, who was already playing without star striker Joel Nouble due to injury, replaced winger Bahamboula with defender Jackson Longridge. Porteous' swerving free kick was deflected away by Konovalov, but Nisbet was there to smash in the rebound off the post.

The second goal was created by Nisbet, who won the ball in midfield and then fed Cadden on the right. The full-back moved forward and fired a low shot into the far corner of the goal in the 35th minute.

Five minutes later, Youan cut onto his right foot and whipped in a cross from the left wing that Magennis nodded in from close range, giving Hibs the victory in everything but name.

Four minutes into the second half, the two worked together once more as Youan received the ball from a short corner, and his cross was headed in by Magennis.
