The chef known as Salt Bae has been banned from a music festival following his controversial drama at the Qatar World Cup. At the final of the footballing event on December 18, Nusret Gökçe, a Turkish chef who was nicknamed Salt Bae, was pictured posing with the World Cup trophy as he celebrated alongside Argentina players after their victory over France.
His antics even broke FIFA rules which state that the trophy can only be held by a select group including former winners and heads of state. In one video shared online, Salt Bae looked like he was pestering Messi, who was enjoying the crowning moment of his incredible career.
With a VIP badge around his neck he tried to force his way in for a photo opportunity with the Argentina captain who shrugged him off. His behaviour resulted in a ban on his attendance to the US Open Cup football tournament.
Now, Rolling Loud, an international music festival, has become the latest eve t to block him. “We have also banned Salt Bae from Rolling Loud LA 2023 in March,” they tweeted.
Salt Bae has not given any indication he was planning to go, but the tongue-in-cheek announcement was made pre-emptively.
In a statement to BBC Sport, a Fifa spokesperson said: "Following a review, Fifa has been establishing how individuals gained undue access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail stadium on 18 December. The appropriate internal action will be taken."
