Dr. Love Konadu, president of the non-governmental Mama Love Foundation in Obuasi, has urged the government to enact legislation requiring sign language interpreters in all healthcare facilities.

Dr. Konadu said Deaf people typically have a difficult time communicating with medical staff when they go for medical treatment because of the language barrier, which sometimes results in some avoidable deaths. The event was organised by the Foundation for Deaf and dumb persons as well as Widows in Obuasi.

Approximately 110,625 persons, or 0.4% of Ghana's population of roughly 29 million, are Deaf, according to the Ghana National Association for the Deaf (GNAD); nevertheless, the Ghana Statistical Service counts 211,712 as Deaf.

According to research, sign language is frequently considered an oddity in Ghana. The term "mumu," which means "stupid," is frequently used to make fun of the deaf.

Dr. Love Konadu thinks that hiring sign language interpreters for healthcare facilities and other public locations will give Deaf people equal access to healthcare delivery and make it easier for them to communicate in other public settings. This belief is in line with these challenges.

The Mama Love Foundation gave out sweets at the yearly gathering to more than 100 deaf and dumb people, widows, and their kids.

Ghana's economy can be stimulated by marriage.

In a related incident, Dr. Love Konadu discussed the importance of marriage equality at a summit hosted by her other NGO Love K.

According to her, "when there is peace in marriages, it cascades favourably to the family and the entire country benefits economically because people give their all when there is harmony at home."

Ghana has a high rate of corruption because of arranged marriages.

Unplanned marriages, according to resident pastor of the Church of Christ in Obuasi Central, Pastor Samuel Kaakyire Aning, are to blame for the rise in corruption cases in Ghana.

The man of God claimed during his keynote address at the 2022 Marriage Checkpoint event that the financial obligations that come with marriage force individuals who enter it unprepared to look for various ways of survival, including theft and the misappropriation of public monies.

He gave the young people the assignment of self-evaluating before getting married to see if they were ready to handle the financial responsibilities that would follow.

Pastor Kaakyire Aning lamented the rising number of divorces, particularly among young people in the nation. He blamed the rise in divorces on a lack of emotional support, which can cause couples to forego sex and result in legal separations.

"I'm pleading with the young people to wait until they are fully prepared for marriage before making a commitment. Don't let your sexual or visual pleasures influence you ".
