If he stays healthy, Erling Haaland, according to Alan Shearer, plans to shoot for 40 goals this season.
Alan Shearer, the all-time leading scorer in the Premier League, has lauded Erling Haaland and stated that he plans to score 40 goals this year.
On Wednesday night, Manchester City thrashed Leeds United to narrow the gap on leaders Arsenal to five points when Haaland, 22, scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season after Rodri had given them the lead just before halftime.
Shearer gushed about the Norwegian in an interview with Amazon Prime following the match, all the while making jokes with his fellow commentators that his record of 260 goals would be broken as long as Haaland remained in England.
Shearer praised Haaland's mentality for coming back and securing an easy three points for his team after watching him miss a number of chances in the first half. He later admitted that he felt he could have had "five" on the night.
He squandered a few opportunities throughout the evening, one of which was in the opening minutes, according to Shearer.
He can acquire tap ins, therefore he offers you nearly everything. There aren't many weaknesses, but he'll reflect on it tonight and be angry at the opportunities he missed.
Before a single ball was kicked this season, I predicted that a good center forward would score 20 goals.
and an excellent center forward, which he certainly is... He'll have a mental image of a figure, and I wouldn't be surprised if it had a four in the front. I admire his ambition and hunger. I adore that mindset, he continued.
"He is the ideal center forward to start with," someone once said. There is nothing he can't do well. If he's healthy, he'll score 40 goals at the very least. His own ability as well as the abilities of those around him. Before the game, Shearer had claimed, "He'll get my record if he remains."
Eni Aluko, who was working as Shearer's co-commentator, concurred and called him a "goal machine," complimenting his teammates for the opportunities they give him.
He scores goals with ease. Aluko remarked, "Kevin De Bruyne isn't even looking at the ball there in the first half. He needs to have faith that he can contribute as many goals as he can to this team.
After speaking with Amazon Prime, Haaland demonstrated his expertise and passion for the game by claiming that he was "triggered" after watching other players "score goals and win games" at the World Cup, to which Norway did not make it.
Former City player Nedum Onuoha commended the forward for his willingness to keep becoming better.
He is familiar with the league's history, but his discussion of the World Cup irritated me. He must be a huge fan of football to be watching that. Even though he's only 22 years old, he has so much
Haaland received praise from teammates and coaches as well. Jesse Marsch dubbed the forward one of his "favorite" players to watch because of his unquenchable desire to score goals.
Marsch praised the player, saying, "He has an extraordinary knack for knowing where to be and a passion to score goals like no one I've ever seen." It's contagious to have them on a team, says the speaker.
The Leeds manager said, "It makes Haaland one of my favorite players," when asked whether it makes City his favorite team to win the title.
After the game, Pep Guardiola lauded his "humbleness," telling Shearer and his teammates that he is a "great guy."
"I'm furious" (about his missed chances). The record Alan set is improbable. Since he arrived with a strong reputation, we are grateful for his humility. The complete opposite is true; he is a wonderful person with a strong work ethic.
