For the first time this year, Eddie Nketiah scored for Arsenal, helping the Premier League's top team defeat West Ham 3-1.

The sole goal at halftime came from Said Benrahma's penalty kick, frustrating the home team despite dominating possession in the opening period. However, the Gunners rallied, and eight minutes after the break Bukayo Saka equalized before Gabriel Martinelli gave Arsenal the lead.

With their 10th straight victory at the Emirates, Nketiah's goal in the 69th minute gave the Gunners all three points and tied their longest-ever Premier League home winning streak.

Nketiah took the place of Gabriel Jesus, who was expected to start because Jesus is out due to an injury he got while representing Brazil at the World Cup. The ball took a touch off Nketiah in the buildup, leading to an offside call, and Arsenal felt they had grabbed the lead inside of five minutes when Saka found the back of the net.

After that, Martinelli made a nice move down the left before being pulled down by Jarrod Bowen, who was then promptly arrested. The eighth-minute free kick was given to the Gunners, but they were unable to capitalize on it.

When Martin Odegaard attempted to set up a one-on-one for Granit Xhaka but overpowered his pass, the Switzerland captain was unable to get to the ball before West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, and Arsenal wasted a wonderful opportunity to go ahead.

The Gunners, who had the majority of the possession in the first half, continued to be frustrated by the tenacious visitors, who eventually took the lead when William Saliba brought down Bowen just inside the box by clipping the left foot of the West Ham striker.

In the 27th minute, the goalkeeper made a penalty kick and Benrahma stepped up to shoot into the goal as Aaron Ramsdale moved to his left. Throughout the first 45 minutes, the Gunners applied constant pressure with wave after wave of attack, usually finding themselves in the final third but ultimately generating little.

Odegaard's quick left-footed shot that struck Aaron Cresswell, whose arm was lifted as he made the block, added additional irritation for the hosts as the first half came to a close. When a VAR review revealed the ball had actually struck Cresswell's head, it overturned Arsenal's initial handball ruling and assured the Gunners would go into halftime behind 1-0.

Shortly after the break, Michail Antonio's effort to double the Hammers' lead was unsuccessful. After Thomas Partey's shot was saved by the right post, Fabianski stopped the ensuing corner.

Odegaard's attempt was diverted to Saka's feet at the edge of the six-yard box, resulting in the equalizing goal for the Gunners in the 53rd minute. Saka inserted himself right away in the bottom left corner.

Six minutes later, Martinelli, who had been on the left side of the area after a few quick touches, beat Fabianski with a low shot at the near post to give Arsenal the lead.

The Emirates crowd had been chanting Nketiah's name since the game began, and they were finally rewarded when Odegaard flicked the ball to the 23-year-old, who skillfully spun around his defender before blasting into the bottom corner.
