The goal of the newly established Rental Housing Association of Ghana (RHAG) is to solve problems relating to the development of the rental housing sector in Ghana.

The organisation would also act as an advocate for all parties involved in Ghana's rental housing market.

Among others, RHAG is made up of property managers, landlords, property management firms, real estate managers, and brokers.

advocacy, education, and cooperation

The co-founder and president of the organisation, Regina Christian Koomson, stressed the importance of collaboration, education, and advocacy in her speech.

"I've been in the real estate sector for nearly 12 years, and I can tell with certainty that there are many areas that require improvement. The landlord-tenant divide would be eliminated thanks to this association. Understanding what is expected of each party in terms of rights and obligations would be the first step in getting everyone on the same page so that we can accomplish this "She stated this during the launch in Accra on December 27, 2022.

Mrs. Koosom said that it was past time for the housing and rental market to get serious consideration. "We serve as the hub for all the participants, and by speaking with one voice, this sector will reclaim its glories. There are many tasks and problems to be resolved, but where do you begin? That is where we come in "She spoke.

Sensitisation

Emmanuel Kporsu, Head of Public Relations and Rent Officer at the Ghanaian Rent Control Department, informed the group that they were ready to work together and educate the public about concerns associated to renting.

"We are prepared to collaborate and inform association members and the general public on the rules governing the business. The Rent Control is required to be fair and firm in its dealings as a government organisation. Additionally, we think that when people are aware of their rights and obligations, they will act morally "added he.

Mr. Kporsu also thanked the association's members for their efforts and wished them luck in carrying out their missions.

Board members

The launch took place at the same time that the RHAG advisory board, executive committee, and board of directors were sworn in.

The co-founder and president Regina Christian Koomson, co-founder Natasha Osei Antwi, treasurer Richmond Osei Antwi, and general secretary Solomon Mai make up the executive board.

While Emmanuel Kporsu, Emmanuel Mai, and Frederick Opoku are all members of the advisory board, the board also includes Aurelia Peart, Emma Markin Jean, and Elbert Allen.
