GRAEME SOUNESS: With their freedom and confidence, Arsenal has every chance of winning the Premier League.
It was claimed that Manchester City would easily win the Premier League after acquiring Erling Haaland. Some believed it would be monotonous. Here, it doesn't quite work that way. We have the best league in the world because of this.
Take a look at where the big seven are right now. Given Eddie Howe's outstanding work and Newcastle's current form, I have to include them.
Who would have imagined we'd be in the City on New Year's Eve?
Haaland, who has 20 league goals, would be five points in front. Additionally, Arsenal would be the team setting the pace.
We have a title race. Pep Guardiola used to be concerned about what Liverpool was doing. Not this season, as Arsenal has a chance to win the league.
Newcastle, currently in third place, isn't prepared in my opinion, and everyone else will be concentrating on the top four. But I anticipate that the top two will be close at Easter.
Arsenal is playing freely, confidently, and with conviction. They seem to think they can out-football and out-score anyone when I watch them play. That level of conviction is impressive.
However,
The guys play their own game because Mikel Arteta has given them so much confidence. When they compete against City in February, it will be interesting to watch how that tactic performs.
The board of Arsenal also deserves praise. They stood behind Arteta through some challenging times, and they were wise to do so. They have all done a good job of hiring together.
Arteta is ideal for their concept because Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, and Gabriel Martinelli, who were not recognized as elite Premier League talents, discovered young players who could be coached and developed.
Despite everything, I still believe City will defeat them in May. Their players are consistently successful, and it's amazing to believe that about yourself. The city has succeeded before, so they are confident in their abilities.
Given their strong chances of finishing in the top four, that will be Newcastle's battle in the final stretch. Are they prepared for the pressure at work?
