REPORT: RANGERS VS MOTHERWELL

After limping off in the 3-0 rout of Motherwell in the Premiership at Ibrox, Gers striker Alfredo Morelos is hoping to be cleared to play in the Old Firm game.

The Colombian international opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a header. Defender Connor Goldson added a second goal after 38 minutes, and midfielder Malik Tillman added a third before Morelos was forced off the field.

Although they were both eligible again, strikers Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak were not included in the team despite the possibility that they may be needed when league leaders Celtic visited on January 2.

We had a little bit of a red flag after the Aberdeen game, to be fair, Beale, the Gers manager who has won all four games, said. He was supposed to leave because his hamstring felt tight just as we scored our third goal.

We started him tonight because he obviously missed the Ross County game and just played for the final 30 minutes while feeling well.

"I think the issue is tightness. So perhaps he came off just in time to prevent anything worse from happening. With Kemar and Antonio out, we had very few options there, so he had to go to the well."

"They both qualify to travel. They have the necessary training to be physically fit. But if I asked you if they currently have 90 minutes left, you would probably reply no. The return of them is thus welcome."

They will split the minutes and play if Alfredo is not ready. It's crucial, in my opinion, that they return for us. "I believe Antonio and Kemar only need a split second to alter the game, so having them is good. Off the bench would be ideal."

Despite leading the Gers to 12 points from 12, Beale is still dissatisfied with his team's play. "It's three points and a clean sheet, that was it," he declared. Once more, we were fragmented."

"I won't sit here and try to mislead people; it wasn't free-flowing. I didn't get what I wanted out of it. "I would have accepted it if you had told me we would get 12 points from these four games, with a few clean sheets coming into the next game. We could have used a little more rhythm in our playing, in my opinion."

"But with Ben (Davies) and Connor (Goldson) on the pitch, it's another three points and a clean sheet. We are handing away the passes uncontested, so we either need to rapidly establish some rhythm or become much better while not in possession of the ball. That worries me because it leaves us open to danger.

"It's not what I expected, so I need to focus on it over the next three to four days. Right now, I'd prefer outcomes to performances, but I realize we need to get better over time. Fans desire excitement and entertainment. The players share this desire."

Fir Park manager Steven Hammell said: "It's a tough one to take. I've brought on 16-year-olds Luca Ross and Lennon Miller as I try to deal with injuries and illness in a run of one win in ten." The plan was to come here and start positively, and I thought we did that. I felt we controlled a large portion of the game in the early going.
