THE INFINITI QX65, A COUPE VERSION OF THE QX60 SUV, IS COMING.

CarBuzz has discovered a brand-new trademark that luxury automobile manufacturer Infiniti has submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the name QX65. It is safe to assume that Infiniti is developing a coupe version of the QX60 SUV because the QX55 is the coupe version of the QX50. The fact that the application was submitted on December 22 suggests that the decision to market the new model in the United States was made recently. The QX56, which had a similar name and was available from 2004 to 2010, was a rather disgusting machine before it was renamed the QX80; however, we doubt that the QX65 will be anything but appealing. Additionally, it's possible that a hybrid model will be made available. One of Infiniti's safest crossovers to date is the QX60, but it's not perfect. It actually has a few remnants of its Nissan Pathfinder heritage but is at present just presented with a single motor choice. This is a 295-horsepower 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6. Although a hybrid powertrain is not available for the current generation, Infiniti will need to provide more advanced and energy-efficient powertrains in order to remain competitive as more and more laws are enacted to prevent the sale of combustion engines in the United States over the next ten years. The launch of a brand-new body style with a sloping roofline seems like the ideal occasion to introduce an improved engine or a new hybrid powertrain. The approaching appearance of a roadster form of the QX60 follows everything that Infiniti said to us recently: "We will concentrate on our first electric vehicle and the most well-liked luxury car segments, like crossovers and SUVs." Since sedans are no longer in high demand, Infiniti will concentrate on expanding its lineup of crossovers and SUVs. However, we do not anticipate seeing the new QX65 until at least the third quarter of next year.

Our spy photographers have not yet encountered any testing of QX60-sized coupe crossovers, indicating that a reveal is still some way off. We'll keep on observing this story as it creates and bring your more selective data as we get it.
