Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president, expressed optimism that Ghana will continue on the path of economic liberation and fast development in 2019.

As a result, he has emphasised that Ghanaians must shift their hands, minds, and hearts as the government makes all effort humanly feasible to usher in a joyous new year.

Dr. Bawumia declared, "I am very optimistic about Ghana's future, and my prayer is that 2023 should see us continue on the path of economic emancipation and accelerated development," as he ushered in the new year with Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, and the Dr. Wayat Assembly of the Church of Pentecost in Accra New Town (2023).

The Vice-President was accompanied at the service by his wife, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, a number of past and present Members of Parliament (MPs), ministers of state, and top government officials.

economic difficulties

Vice-President Bawumia, who was dressed entirely in white, acknowledged the challenges facing the nation but expressed optimism that it would weather the storm and turn things around.

"We have been working while also trusting in God because you cannot just trust in God and sit around and fold your arms and go to sleep; you must work, so we have been doing both, and luckily we are starting to feel the strength of our faith."

He continued by elaborating on the economic crisis, stating that it had been marked by economic uncertainty and difficulties that had made even stronger countries stutter.

He stated that during these trying times, "we deploy all humanly feasible efforts to help us stay afloat on the surface of the obstacles but those who ignore God and tackle the war on their own cannot succeed."

Therefore, he urged the populace to have faith in the Lord and have hope in the face of such uncertainties.

Vice-President Bawumia emphasised the necessity to use spiritual authority and a relationship with God to bring progress and pleasure to countries while quoting from the Bible to buttress his argument.

He declared that the church must be viewed as a tool not just for spiritual and moral purity but also for social and economic development, both individually and in collaboration with the government.

Dr. Bawumia stated in this regard that the government was dedicated to working with the church and all faith-based organisations to achieve those aims.
