Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram has chosen Man Utd as his favourite Premier League transfer option ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Red Devils are in need of goal-scoring reinforcements after Cristiano Ronaldo left the club by mutual consent prior to the World Cup.
Marcus Rashford has been the Red Devil’s most reliable attacking option so far this season, contributing five goals and three assists from 15 appearances in the league before today’s match against Wolves.
Injury-prone Anthony Martial is their other main option up front and Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag sees Thuram as a realistic January transfer target.
There have already been reports that Thuram is ready to leave Gladbach in order to move to a bigger club with more hope of challenging for major honours.
And now Bild (via Sport Witness) claims that Thuram – who played in France’s World Cup final defeat to Argentina on penalties – wants to move to ‘one of the four dream clubs’ next month.
Thuram is said to have ‘two clear wishes’: to move to Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Man Utd or Paris Saint-Germain and to do it in the January transfer window.
The report adds that Aston Villa and Newcastle ‘can save their bids’ as Thuram has no interest in joining either of the Premier League sides.
“Marcus Thuram and Randal Kolo Muani made a brilliant contribution to the game [against Argentina] in very difficult circumstances,” Saha told Paddy Power.
“They maintained their composure in crucial moments, and they are great players.
“At this moment in time, young players moving to Manchester United need to be cautious because we have seen some really good players struggle at United. I’m not saying they shouldn’t join because of that, but it’s a difficult time.
“It’s not enough to just be a good player or in good form. It’s all about how they can adapt, and the situation is not totally clear at the moment, so I don’t want to throw any names around.
“They [Thuram and Kolo Muani] are very good prospects and I hope they can see that Manchester United are growing, and Erik ten Hag is the right manager.”
