According to Transfermarkt, Philippe Coutinho's move from Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool to Barcelona is the most expensive winter transfer in history. During the 2017/18 season, the Brazil international chose a move to Camp Nou in a £135 million deal.
The move did not go as planned for the creative midfielder, who struggled to settle in and was loaned out to several teams before being sold to Aston Villa in 2022.
The Reds paid £85 million to sign the Netherlands international during the 17/18 season, and he has since established himself as a key member of the defense, leading them to the EPL title, UEFA Champions League, Club World Cup, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup triumphs.
Next on the list is the transfer of Dusan Vlahovic from Florentina to Juventus, for which the Italian giants paid £82 million ahead of Arsenal and other top clubs.
Aymeric Laporte's £65 million move from Athletic Bilbao to Manchester City is the fourth most expensive transfer in history.
He is closely followed by Christian Pulisic, who joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund for £64 million. The USA international has struggled with injuries at Stamford Bridge.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the next player on the list. The Gabonese forward joined the Emirates for £64 million during the 2017/18 season and gave his all for the North Londoners before joining Barcelona on a free transfer last summer.
Bruno Fernandes is the sixth most expensive transfer; the Portuguese midfielder joined Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon for £63 million and hasn't looked back since.
