Brentford hold off Liverpool's second-half comeback to win their first game of 2023.

Their first win over the Merseyside club since the 1930s came courtesy of a set-piece barrage before the break and Mbeumo's late counter-attack, which effectively ended the visitors' hopes.

Liverpool lost another away game after Klopp made three substitutions at halftime as his team struggled defensively.

Brentford rise to seventh in the Premier League standings before facing previous opponents West Ham in the FA Cup at the weekend, while Liverpool are now only one place and two points ahead of their more modest counterparts in the pecking order - they will look to bounce back by beating Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English FA Cup next time out.

Arsenal face double suspension risk for Tottenham clash as two players walk tightrope

Arsenal will face Tottenham in the second North London Derby of the season on January 15, but first they must play a tense 90 minutes against Newcastle.

Mikel Arteta must make a decision on Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, who are one booking away from missing the North London Derby.

The Gunners will face their neighbors on January 15, with Arteta's men aiming to complete a league double after defeating them at Emirates Stadium in October. But first, there's the matter of a meeting with high-flying Newcastle.Saka and Saliba have both received four yellow cards in the league this season, with the former receiving his most recent in Saturday's win over Brighton. If either player receives another caution against the Magpies, they will be suspended for the derby, so Arteta must decide whether to start them on Tuesday evening.

Saliba, who has established himself as Arsenal's starting center-back this season, received his fourth booking against Leeds in mid-October but has remained out of trouble since. Saka had only one league yellow card when Saliba was booked for the fourth time at the Amex Stadium.Suspensions for five yellow cards are imposed at the halfway point of the season, or after 19 games. Arsenal have played 16 games so far, which means that if either of the players on four yellow cards is booked against Tottenham, they will miss the home match against Manchester United.

Arsenal's Saka and Saliba are the only players with four yellow cards, while Gabriel and Ben White have three. Spurs, meanwhile, have Harry Kane balancing a game against Crystal Palace before the North London Derby.

Both Saliba and Saka are one game away from being banned.
