Liverpool were defeated 3-1 by Brentford as their dreadful Premier League season continued into the new year.

Klopp's side were defeated by an own goal from Konate, as well as goals from Wissa and Mbeumo.

Man United fans were overjoyed with the result, as the Red Devils have a chance to put some distance between themselves and Liverpool with a win over Bournemouth tomorrow.

Goldde: "The trio of Klopp, Conte, and Potter compete to see who can finish lowest. Tottenham are so Spursy that they aren't even winning in this category."

Rashf: "Brentford gets us Casemiro and Antony, as well as a Liverpool L."

"Guys, I don't know what's going on at Liverpool, but I'm 100% sure the Ten Hag effect is playing a role in their demise," Goldde says.

"Liverpool look dead to me, Van Dijk hiked off at halftime, is massively overrated and always has been, this season has been shocking, Nunez can't seem to hit a barn door, if we win tomorrow we go six points ahead of them, just makes you wonder if we hadn't lost the games we did we could be in the mix for the title, I think that's a few seasons off but with ten hag we're definitely going in the right direction," J

Hoofar: "Remember when these guys would make these all-time Premier League 11s with multiple Liverpool players in them and Klopp would be in the running for best manager? For what purpose? In 30 years, they have only won one league championship."

"Gakpo is frantically calling Ten Hag's phone right now to apologize for his error," Ryan says.

Akshat: "Liverpool are so bad. Gakpo isn't going to help you when your midfield is this bad. Thank you for leaving, Michael Edwards."

Erik ten Hag gives injury update on Diogo Dalot

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an update on right-back Diogo Dalot's injury.

Dalot suffered an injury during Portugal's World Cup quarter-final loss to Morocco.

He has since missed three Manchester United matches since the tournament.

It does not appear that Dalot will be able to return in time for United's game against Bournemouth at home tonight.

Session of Manchester United Training

Diogo Dalot injury update

Erik ten Hag told Manchester United's official website that he will remain cautious about Dalot's return, citing the lengthy schedule ahead.

He did, however, state that the Portuguese defender is making encouraging progress in his return to fitness. He was pictured in full training gear.

"He is making good progress," Ten Hag said, "but we don't want to take risks with anyone because we know there are many games coming up and we need a full squad to cover all of them."

While Dalot is out, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will continue at right-back, and he has made a strong impression in the last two weeks, with United keeping three clean sheets.

Dalot was one of United's best players in the early part of the season, but Wan-form Bissaka's means there's less reason to rush him back before he's fully recovered.

Martinez and McTominay on their way back

Ten Hag also believes Lisandro Martinez and Scott McTominay will be included in the squad against Bournemouth.

Martinez is getting back into shape after the World Cup, while McTominay is recovering from illness.

"Both were training yesterday and today," the manager said, "so I am quite optimistic about [their] return to the squad, both of them."
