PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN TO DECIDE SERGIO RAMOS CONTRACT OFFER ON TWO KEY GAMES
Paris Saint-Germain will decide on Sergio Ramos' contract offer based on two key games.
Sergio Ramos is in his second season at Paris Saint-Germain after joining on a free transfer with Lionel Messi two summers ago. His first season in Paris was nearly ruined by injury, but Ramos has returned to fitness this season. He has played an important role for Christophe Galtier this season, but his future at the club will not be decided until March.Ramos initially signed a two-year contract, so he will be out of contract this summer. The club, however, has yet to make him a new contract offer. Although he can now freely discuss terms with anyone, it appears that Ramos has little desire to leave and PSG has little concern that he might.
The Spanish record-holder will have to wait at least another two months to decide his future. According to Andres Onrubia of Diario AS, PSG are concerned that Ramos no longer has the same pace he once had and are unsure whether he can continue to play at the highest level in the future. As a result, they will have to wait and see how Ramos performs in their Champions League Round of 16 match against Bayern Munich. They'll make a decision based on his performance there.
Ramos has already appeared 22 times for PSG this season, scoring once and assisting once in 1,821 minutes. Galtier's decision to play him for 90 minutes in each of their six Champions League group games demonstrates that he does not share the concerns of CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi or Sporting Advisor Luis Campos. However, it is understandable that there is reluctance to offer a large contract to a 37-year-old in March.
