Chelsea's most expensive player in football history is Romelu Lukaku, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan. In five games for Inter Milan in the 2022/23 season, he has two goals and two assists. Kepa Arrizabalaga is Chelsea's second most expensive player, coming in at number ten. He was signed for 71.6 million Euros, but his lack of form was the reason he played so little for Chelsea the previous season, but he has found favor under Potter this season. This season, he has six clean sheets in 13 games for the Blues.

Kai Havertz, on the other hand, was signed from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 for 71 million Euros and is currently ranked third on the list. This season, the German forward has five goals and an assist for Chelsea across all competitions. Furthermore, Wesley Fofana, who was signed in the summer transfer window of 2022, is ranked fourth on the list. He was injured prior to the FIFA World Cup and has yet to return to the squad.

Ben Chilwell, Fernando Torres, Marc Cucurella, Jorginho, Alvaro Morata, and Christian Pulisic are also among Chelsea's most expensive players. Pulisic, a forward from the United States, was signed in 2019 for 58 million Euros. In 20 games for the Blues in the 2022/23 season, he has one goal and two assists. Jorginho, his teammate, joined the club in 2018 for 57 million Euros and has scored three goals in 31 games for Chelsea this season.

'Could have told you this': Ben Foster not surprised £160k-a-week Chelsea player has struggled this season

Ben Foster has stated that he is not surprised by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's performance at Chelsea this season.

Aubameyang, 33, completed his summer transfer from Barcelona to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea giving the former Arsenal striker another chance in the Premier League.

However, the £160,000-a-week centre-forward has only scored three goals in 14 Blues appearances this season.

He hasn't started either of Chelsea's two games since the World Cup, so he appears to have slipped behind Kai Havertz in the pecking order under head coach Graham Potter.Foster is unsurprised by Aubameyang's performance.

Ben Foster claims he never expected Aubameyang to be a big success after joining Chelsea this season.

Foster said on his YouTube channel about Aubameyang's time at Chelsea, "I could have told you this before the season started. I thought when they signed him, "That's not going to do anything."

Aubameyang has been a goal machine at various clubs throughout his career, so it's easy to see why the Blues took a chance on him. However, he joined at a time when Thomas Tuchel was still in charge. His transfer is getting worse by the week, as he has less and less of an impact.Tony Pulis recently stated that he did not expect Aubameyang to play a regular role under Potter, which is beginning to come true.

It will be interesting to see what kind of opportunities the experienced attacker receives in the future.

The Blues face Manchester City twice this week, in both the Premier League and the FA Cup.

Aubameyang, in our opinion, deserves another chance to lead the line. It's worth noting that he was one of the few senior players who did not travel to the World Cup and instead spent time working under Potter.
