In a 1-1 draw against QPR, John Egan's goal in the waning seconds gave promotion-hunting Sheffield United a point. At Loftus Road, Egan made up for a poor error that gave Rangers the advantage right away.

Rangers needed a boost after four straight home losses, and Ilias Chair's fortunate opener after 11 minutes—his fourth goal of the year—provided it.

When trying to play out from the back, defender Egan gave the ball away. Chris Willock then set up Chair, who's shot deflected off Egan and caught goalkeeper Wes Foderingham completely off guard.

Although it would have been Neil Critchley's first home victory since becoming the R's manager, the home team was unable to hold on. He headed the ball toward Egan after Enda Stevens' left-wing cross was partially cleared back to him, and Egan's close-range attempt was deflected in by Rob Dickie.

Rangers had a ton of possession in the opening period, and Chair missed a chance from just outside the penalty area after giving Rangers the lead.

Seny Dieng, the goalkeeper, made a deft save to deny Billy Sharp at the other end and stopped an attempt from Ollie Norwood before Stevens came close to tying the score with a shot that just missed the mark.

Early in the second half, QPR maintained their advantage, with Osman Kakay seeing a long shot deflected wide and Willock firing over after receiving a flick-on from Lyndon Dykes.

While Dykes has had trouble scoring goals this year, his tireless work up front has been vital for Rangers, while Willock, who was summoned back, appeared to be nearly back to his former self.

Prior to Sharp and Iliman Ndiaye's outstanding opportunities, United struggled to find gaps. Sharp slipped past Dickie and Kakay to reach a ball that was over the top, but he then lifted the ball over Dieng and onto the top of the net.

Then, Ndiaye dribbled into the box but Dieng stopped him at close range. After falling victim to a Dickie challenge, Ndiaye unsuccessfully asked for a penalty, and Dieng made a save at the near post to stop Jebbison.

However, United's perseverance paid off in the end, and Egan's goal reduced second-placed United's deficit to five points rather than six over Burnley, who are currently leading the Sky Bet Championship. QPR's point moved them up to 12th.
