Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, has confirmed that he will not take another job after leaving the club for at least a year, whenever that may be.
Klopp has been in charge of Liverpool for more than seven years, the longest tenure of his managerial career, following just over six years at Mainz and seven full seasons at Borussia Dortmund.
The German was expected to leave Liverpool at the end of his previous contract in 2024, but he signed new terms earlier this year until 2026.
"If I end the contract in Liverpool, nothing will be done for at least a year," he told Bild.Klopp has also stated that he has not ruled out becoming Germany's national team coach before retiring, a position to which he has been frequently linked in recent years.
"It's not completely out of the question that I'll be the national coach at some point. But it must fit. And it hasn't so far," the two-time Bundesliga champion explained.
Klopp has previously stated that he intends to return to Germany at some point in the future, whether to coach or simply relax. That was in 2016, and he also stated his intention to retire before reaching the age of 60, which is now only four and a half years away."I certainly will [return to Germany] to live, but I don't know if I will be back there as a coach. "There will come a time when I will say, 'Thank you, it was a pleasure,'" Klopp told RND at the time.
"It's very unlikely that I'll still be sitting on the bench when I'm 60. And, if I only get to coach Mainz, Dortmund, and Liverpool at the end of my career, it will have been three fantastic clubs."
When Klopp's current Liverpool contract expires in 2026, he will have just turned 59.

Jose Mourinho's "best in the world" prediction is coming true and transforming Man Utd
Casemiro's arrival from Real Madrid was a watershed moment in Manchester United's revival under Erik ten Hag, and his impressive performances at Old Trafford have demonstrated that Jose Mourinho was spot on.
Jose Mourinho has been proven correct.
Manchester United now has a functioning midfield, thanks in large part to one man: Casemiro.
The Brazilian has been the bedrock of Erik ten Hag's impressive revival at Old Trafford, as the Red Devils sit fourth in the Premier League with two games remaining. United would have finished second in the league if it hadn't been for two humiliating defeats to Brighton and Brentford before Casemiro arrived. But it was because of those humiliating results that Casemiro came in from Real Madrid, as he made a private phone call to Red Devils football director John Murtough in August to explain how he could be Ten Hag's saviour. After raising £70 million for Real Madrid, the European champions reluctantly parted ways with their midfield general after nine years of outstanding service.
Casemiro, who turns 31 next month, clearly understood his abilities and what he could bring to United, just as Jose Mourinho predicted in 2013.
"I know you, you're good, and you're going to be the best central midfielder in the world," Casemiro told Cope."He gave me this confidence, and I left the locker room thinking I was Cristiano Ronaldo. With the energy he gave me, I was convinced that he was the best in the world. He instilled in me an incredible amount of confidence and energy."
