For Argentina star Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea makes an £87 million offer to Benfica along with THREE players
Enzo Fernandez, the hero of Argentina's World Cup team, is still a target for Chelsea, who have made him a new offer of reportedly £87 million plus three players, including the disfavored Hakim Ziyech.
In an effort to revive their chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League following a disappointing first half of the season, the Blues have been connected with a number of players during the January transfer window.
According to reports, they are negotiating with Benfica to sign Fernandez, and Andrey Santos, Benoit Badiashile,
The potential transfer to Stamford Bridge has also been mentioned for Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk.
Additionally, their most recent offer for Fernandez is currently £87 million plus three players, according to Portuguese publication Record.
Graham Potter's team is offering Ziyech on a long-term contract as well as young stars David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos on loan in exchange.
A four-year period with Ajax during which Ziyech scored 49 goals and provided 81 assists led Chelsea to pay £33 million for the attacking midfielder in 2020.
However, his tenure at Stamford Bridge has not been as fruitful, and the Moroccan star is eager to quit the team after failing to secure a consistent berth in either Potter's or Thomas Tuchel's starting XI.
Although the Dutch club balked at Chelsea's asking price, he was rumored to be returning to Ajax in the summer. However, he has only made two starts this season across all competitions.
Ziyech's skill is undeniable—as evidenced by Morocco's historic journey to the World Cup semifinals in Qatar—but he hasn't been able to maintain any kind of consistency while playing for Stamford Bridge, scoring just 14 goals and dishing out 10 assists in 93 games.
In contrast, Fofana, a 20-year-old who has already played twice for the Ivory Coast, just signed with the Blues for £8 million from Molde.
According to the rumor, the teenage striker will sign a loan agreement with Benfica and hopes to continue his successful career, which saw him score 24 goals in 65 games for the Norwegian team.
Santos has not yet signed with Chelsea, but it is widely believed that he will complete his £18 million transfer from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama to Stamford Bridge this month.
