To borrow Felix from Atletico until the end of the season, Man Utd has offered them £3.5 million
According to reports, Manchester United has offered Atletico Madrid £3.5 million to loan Joao Felix to them for the remainder of the season.
Felix was completely absent from Atletico's lineup for their 2-0 Copa del Rey victory against Real Oviedo on Wednesday after making just one start for them since September after falling down the pecking order under Diego Simeone.
According to Relevo, United has been keeping an eye on Felix's status and has now made a move, offering £3.5 million while also being willing to pay his wages for the rest of the season.
Though Atletico are believed to be seeking a sum of around £11 million before allowing Felix to depart, their assessment of the player falls rather short of Atletico's.
This implies that in order for the Red Devils to have a realistic chance of signing Felix, they may need to significantly increase their offer.
Erik ten Hag is eager to sign a new striker this month after United cut off Cristiano Ronaldo's contract in November as a result of his shocking Piers Morgan interview.
Ten Hag's options, it seems, may be limited given that United is only planning to sign players on loan in January as a result of the uncertainty surrounding the team following the Glazers' decision to put it up for sale.
Cody Gakpo, a Dutch forward who chose to sign with Liverpool rather than United, is already one of United's top targets that they have already failed to land.
Felix, who can play from the left side or through the centre, is currently the focus of their attention.
Atletico paid £114 million for Felix in 2019, making him the most expensive teenager in history. In 130 games for the team, Felix has scored 34 goals.
As he searches for a way out of the Metropolitano Stadium this month, he has also been connected with Chelsea and Arsenal.
