The Ram Charger, an automated robot charging solution for the new Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept, reinvents EV charging with greater convenience than ever and brings an iconic Dodge nameplate into the modern era.

The automaker revealed information about a new inductive robot charger at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show as part of the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept. This charger can detect the truck's presence, determine the battery's charge level, and then move into position to automatically feed juice into the battery.

In addition, this innovative piece of technology includes a smart charge feature that enables charging during off-peak hours, minimizing energy costs and the customer's load on the power grid. We sincerely hope that this one makes it into the production version of the Ram 1500 EV in 2024, even though we do not anticipate that all of the remarkable features that are displayed on the concept will be included. The Ramcharger was Dodge's answer to the K5 Chevy Blazer and Ford Bronco from 1974 to 1993. If the name sounds familiar, that's because Dodge made it. It would appear that Ram will continue to concentrate on pickup trucks rather than SUVs, but this is irrelevant given that the name was applied to an accessory rather than being reserved for a future vehicle.

The fact that Ram has added a new level of convenience to the ownership of electric vehicles is important, but it is not entirely unique. In 2015, Tesla unveiled a prototype of something similar. Despite the fact that others are developing robotic charging devices of a similar nature, including Ford, customers of that brand still have to create their own automatic chargers or deal with the hassle of manually plugging in their electric vehicles. The Ram Charger's powered charging port door means that the driver only needs to park the vehicle to use it. When the pickup is plugged in and charging has begun, it will also produce a distinctive sound. The port itself is illuminated and blinks while charging for added convenience, making it simple to monitor from a distance.

Although it is uncertain whether this product will be available to the general public by 2024, automatic charging appears to be imminent. In any case, Ram is capitalizing on the fact that it was late to the electric truck party. Vehicles like the Chevrolet Silverado EV and Ford F-150 Lightning will undoubtedly be keeping an eye on Ram.
