TOP 10 CLUBS IN EUROPE WITH THE HIGHEST AVERAGE EXPENDITURE ON TRANSFERS IN THE LAST 10 YEARS

Clubs can improve their performance by bringing in new players through signings or by transferring some of their players to the academy. These are the top ten clubs in terms of average expenditure over the last ten years.



1. Manchester United - Over the last ten years, the Red Devils have spent an average of €1.07 billion on transfers. In the summer transfer window of 2022, they spent €240 million.



2. Manchester City - In the last decade, citizens have spent an average of €984 million on transfers. Over the last ten years, they have improved their performance. Their net spend in the summer transfer window of 2022 was £18.36 million.


3. PSG - They have spent an average of €941 million in net spending over the last ten years. Their most expensive signing in the last ten years has been Neymar Junior, who cost €222 million.




4. Barcelona - Their average spend over the last ten years has been €650 million. They spent €150 million on transfers during the summer transfer window of 2022.



5. Arsenal - In the last decade, the Gunners have spent an average of €583 million on transfers. They spent £118 million on 2022 summer transfers.

Chelsea interested in signing Arsenal and Manchester United target in January - Reports

According to Italian journalist Santi Aouna, Chelsea are interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach and France forward Marcus Thuram in January.



Thuram's contract at Monchengladbach expires at the end of the season, and multiple clubs have expressed interest in signing him, including Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United.


Chelsea are reportedly looking to sign an attacker to bolster their attacking options after Armando Broja suffered a long-term injury, and Thuram is one of many players on their radar.The 25-year-old, the eldest son of France legend Lilian Thuram, has been in excellent form for the German club this season, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists in 17 appearances across all competitions. He also made a name for himself with France at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, most notably by assisting Kylian Mbappe's second goal in the final against Argentina.


Monchengladbach are said to prefer cashing in on the 25-year-old in the middle of the season rather than losing him on a free transfer in six months.


Chelsea have had a disappointing season so far, finishing 10th in the Premier League and scoring just 20 league goals all season, the fewest in the top 10.Thuram isn't the only forward on the Blues' radar; owner Todd Boehly is reportedly interested in signing Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.


Chelsea is considering a big-money move for PSG superstar Neymar.Chelsea is one of two Premier League clubs interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Neymar Jr., the other being Newcastle United.


This season, the Brazilian has been extremely productive for PSG, scoring 15 goals and registering 13 assists in 21 games across all competitions. Despite his form, the Ligue 1 club is reportedly willing to sell the 30-year-old for €50-60 million as they seek to build a team around Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.Neymar joined PSG from Barcelona for €222 million five and a half years ago. In total, he has 115 goals and 75 assists in 165 games for the French national team. He won four Ligue 1 titles and nine domestic cup titles during his time in Paris.
