It is a sad day for everyone associated with Chelsea Football Club following the death of one of its former players and manager, Gianluca Vialli, at the age of 58.

On Friday, January 6, 2023, the club made the announcement on its official website. There was no word on the cause of his death.

Luca Vialli arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 1996, fresh from leading Juventus to Champions League glory. The former Italian international finished his first season at Stamford Bridge with 11 goals in 34 games.

Vialli remained as player-manager in 1998/99, despite making only 20 appearances on the pitch, mostly in cup competitions. He will also be remembered as the man who gave John Terry his Chelsea debut against Aston Villa.

He won the FA Cup twice for Chelsea, as a player and as a manager.

The Swiss star then delivered an inch-perfect pass to the left wing.

Fans were in awe and took to Twitter to praise the Juventus loanee.

"Zakaria is a baller tho," one fan wrote on Twitter.

"With losing Kante and Jorginho, no brainer we should do the buy option if he continues like this," said one.Despite joining the Blues in September, Zakaria didn't make his debut until November, when he scored against Dinamo Zagreb, and he has started and impressed ever since.

"The question we must ask ourselves is why did it take Potter this long to play him," one fan said.

"This guy can become more important to the squad going forward, he needs more minutes to gain confidence, would be crazy to watch him with a fully fit Kante," said another.

Zakaria will look to make his fourth consecutive start for Chelsea when they face Manchester City in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
