Real Madrid face excruciating schedule moving forward
Real Madrid's 2023 season has begun similarly to how their 2022 season ended: on a high note. The January transfer window has opened, but Carlo Ancelotti's team is unlikely to be interested in bringing in any big names this time.
In recent press conferences, the Italian appeared to confirm the same, implying that his current squad is focused on preparing for upcoming matches and that that is the only thing keeping them busy.
That would worry a lot of fans, given the club's already crowded fixture list and the injury issues they've had to deal with this season. Over the course of a season, Real Madrid plays no less than 16 competitive football games.Even with a roster full of European champions, this will mean covering an insanely demanding schedule. During this time, Real Madrid will compete for the La Liga, Champions League, Spanish Super Cup, Club World Cup, and Copa del Rey, with their most recent victory at fourth-tier Cacereno confirming their participation in the next round.
Real Madrid has a string of important games coming up.Real Madrid will face Valencia in the Spanish Super Cup semi-finals later this week in Riyadh, before potentially competing for the trophy against either Barcelona or Real Betis.
The Club World Cup in Morocco presents a new set of challenges, as the schedule overlaps with two of Los Blancos' scheduled La Liga matches. Valencia is scheduled to play at home on February 2, three days before the team departs for Morocco.
