One of the characteristics of an elite European club is the ability to spend lavishly on players who they believe can help them achieve success on the field of play.
Manchester United is the only club to have spent more than a billion Euros in the last decade, but despite this, they have had little to no success on the field.
The Red Devils have spent big money on players like Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, Romelu Lukaku, and others, but none of them have lived up to expectations.
United last won the league in Alex Ferguson's final season as manager ten years ago, and they have spent approximately €1.07 billion since then, but have yet to win the EPL again.
Manchester City comes in second on the list of Europe's highest spenders, with a net spend of €984 million that has seen them win five Premier League titles in the last decade, among other accolades.
In third place, we have Paris Saint-Germain, who have spent €941 million on signing Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.
Barcelona (€650m) is fourth on the list, with a Champions League trophy to their name in the last ten seasons, followed by Arsenal (€583m), who has achieved so little and failed to qualify for the UCL in the last six seasons despite spending that much.
Surprisingly, Chelsea has the lowest net spend (€413m) on this list while still winning multiple league titles and a single UCL in the last decade.

Al Nassr want Hazard next after Ronaldo thanks to Rudi Garcia connections
After signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Nassr are reportedly planning to use manager Rudi Garcia's connections to Eden Hazard to bring him to the club.
Garcia worked with Hazard for four years at Lille before the winger moved to Chelsea in 2012. Now, Al Nassr wants Garcia to entice Hazard away from Real Madrid and into Saudi Arabia.
Hazard has fallen out of favor at Real Madrid, where he has appeared in only 73 games and scored seven goals in the three years since joining the La Liga champions in 2019. He also retired from international football after Belgium's 'golden generation' was eliminated from the World Cup in Qatar.According to Foot Mercato, Al Nassr still sees Hazard as valuable and wants him to team up with Ronaldo to shore up their attack next summer. If they can persuade him, he'll also play alongside former Ligue 1 stars Alvaro Gonzalez and Luiz Gustavo, who both played for Marseille.
Matching Hazard's reported weekly wage of £416,000 won't be a problem for the uber-wealthy Arabian side, given the £173 million annual salary they've given Ronaldo. Ronaldo joined the club last week for an exorbitant fee after a contentious departure from Manchester United. However, he will not make his debut until he has served the two-match ban imposed by the English FA after slamming a fan's phone to the ground during United's game against Everton. However, the fitness freak was spotted topless on a training bike as his new team defeated Al Tae'e 2-0 on Friday.
Along with Hazard, Ronaldo may be joined in the Middle East by Chelsea stalwart N'Golo Kante, according to the report. As they seek to assert their dominance in the region, Al Nassr has the French midfielder high on their list of targets.
