Erik ten Hag delivers update on Wout Weghorst and hints at Facundo Pellistri role after Man United win

The Red Devils reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, but struggled against their Ligue 1 opponents until England came on board.

The 25-year-old has scored seven goals in his last six appearances after returning from assisting Peristri in Uruguay's long-awaited United debut

After the game at Old Trafford, ten Hag declined to confirm Burnley's move to Utwegorod on loan, but commented on Peristri's plans.

"No, unfortunately we can't," Ten Hag said of Weghorst's commitment.

"(Peristri) can see the future," he added "He's doing really well and making progress.

"I'm also very happy with his performance against Everton [in a friendly last month]. It's coming and it works, that's the next step."

Addicks played in Man United's half for most of the second half, letting Ten Hag bring in Rashford, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the 60th minute

Rashford once again proved his worth ahead of Saturday's important derby home game against Manchester City.

Ten Hag said: "I've said many times that if we take position one-on-one in the penalty area, he'll score and that's what he's doing now. "If he stays focused and puts in the same effort, he will keep scoring."
