Lionel Messi will be honored by Paris Saint-Germain before their match against Angers on Wednesday, but Kylian Mbappe will not return until the following day.

Paris Saint-Germain will honor Lionel Messi for winning the World Cup at the Parc des Princes, but Kylian Mbappe won't be there.

Messi was the hero in Argentina's incredible final win over France, but his club teammate, who scored a stunning hat-trick in what may go down as the greatest final in tournament history, edged out the superstar for the Golden Boot.

Messi, 35, set a number of records in the championship game on his way to winning the trophy that had eluded him all along. Before leading the South American country to their first World Cup victory since 1986 and taking home the FIFA Golden Ball for the competition's top player, the superstar had made it seem as though this year's World Cup would be his last.

The Argentine will play for PSG for the first time since the tournament after receiving permission to miss the victories over Chateroux in the Coupe de France and matches against Lens and Strasbourg in Ligue 1. The club gave Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi time off around the time of his return.

After PSG's humiliating 3-1 loss at Lens, their first domestic defeat of the season, PSG manager Christophe Galtier announced earlier this month that "Hakimi and Mbappe will have a few days off."They were supposed to be able to play these two games. They'll now get better.

Messi has rejoined the PSG squad ahead of Wednesday's league match against Angers, but Mbappe and Achraf have not. Interestingly, Le Parisien reports that the pair will return to PSG practice on Thursday morning, just hours after Messi is scheduled to receive recognition for his team's World Cup victory.Emi Martinez, the goalkeeper for Argentina, made fun of Mbappe, the lone PSG player on the French World Cup team, during the winners' celebrations. Galtier insisted that any animosity between the forward and Messi would not affect their friendship.

The manager said, "I would concentrate on the relationship between them. "Leo Messi wasn't the one making other people laugh. There is no reason to mix these things up, based on what I observed and experienced following the final and what the goalkeeper's actions were.

"The dynamics between the players are what matter to me. Despite losing, Kylian Mbappe maintained a very positive attitude. He was obviously very disappointed, but he handled it with style. Leo Messi was congratulated by him, which is excellent.
