Galaxy A14 5G Has Better Specs and Is affordable Too

The Galaxy A14 5G gets some significant upgrades that make it better than the previous generation. For starters, its 6.6-inch display is not just larger than the 6.5-inch HD+ screen of the Galaxy A13 5G, but also, it is sharper as it is an FHD+ (1080p) panel. What remains  unchanged is the 90Hz refresh rate and the fact that the panel is LCD and not AMOLED. The company has also left the processor unchanged, maintaining the MediaTek  700 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. There is also a microSD card port for adding up to an extra 1TB of storage.

Just like the Galaxy A13 5G, the Galaxy A14 5G has a 50MP main rear camera (also seen on the much affordable Galaxy A04) paired with a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth camera. However, the latest Samsung phone ditches the 5MP front-facing camera for a higher resolution 13MP sensor. Both phones consist of a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an audio jack, and a USB-C port for charging. The 5,000mAh battery capacity has also been left unchanged, and it also charges at the same 15W speed. The Galaxy A14 5G does have Bluetooth 5.2 while the Galaxy A13 5G has Bluetooth 5.0. The company also ships the latest phone with One UI Core 5.0 based on Android 13.

The latest phone will receive two OS upgrades which implies that it should be updated to Android 15. The Galaxy A13 5G released with Android 11 and has already been upgraded to Android 13, which is expected to be its last OS upgrade. While it is still qualified for security upgrades, it will not be as long as the four years target for the Galaxy A14 5G. The Galaxy A14 5G is said to be sold in the U.S. for $200 (4GB RAM + 64GB), which is $50 lower than the $249 launch price of the Galaxy A13 5G with the same configuration. With its minor feature upgrades and affordable price tag, the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G is shaping up to be a perfect successor, just not one existing Galaxy A13 5G users should upgrade to.
