He may be almost 30 years her senior but former Labour MP Simon Danczuk was caught looking like a love-struck teenager frolicking in a hotel swimming pool with his new bride-to-be.
The 56-year-old recently announced he is getting married for the third time, to Claudine Uwamahoro, a 28-year-old beauty therapist he met on a business trip to her home country of Rwanda.
Despite getting together in March, the couple have spent little more than a few weeks together and have mostly communicated through phone and video calls.
But – as these exclusive pictures show – they appeared delighted to finally be in each other’s company during a New Year break in the capital Kigali, where they plan to marry this summer.
Mr Danczuk was photographed lifting Ms Uwamahoro out of the water and kissing her tenderly. The pair drank cocktails and appeared to dance cheek to cheek in the pool. Later, they were seen laughing and joking, with Ms Uwamahoro attempting to push her fully clothed fiance into the water.
One onlooker said: ‘They looked very much in love. They were laughing and smiling and very much enjoying each other’s company. Simon is clearly besotted by Claudine and vice versa.’
Mr Danczuk took his two youngest sons, aged 14 and 12, with him on the trip so he could introduce them to Miss Uwamahoro.
Photographs posted on his Instagram feed show the boys with their father and his new lover enjoying New Year’s Eve at the Kigali Marriott Hotel and on safari at the Akagera National Park. They also went on a boat trip to see hippos around Lake Ihema and attempted to cross a 500ft-long bridge suspended 230ft above a ravine.
The impending nuptials are the latest chapter in the colourful love life of the ex-MP.
