The country's economy has been severely criticised by the people for being "led into the gutters" by the finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, prompting President Akufo-Addo to ask for his resignation.

After the Majority decided not to participate in the voting on the topic, Mr. Ofori-Atta survived a resolution for censure made by the Minority in Parliament and left the chamber after the debate on the motion was over.

The Kpando Member of Parliament, Della Sowah, then said that the besieged Finance Minister is the only option available to the New Patriotic Party.

She said that despite several Majority MPs having earlier called for Mr. Ofori-dismissal, Atta's this was a factor in the Majority's decision to oppose the Minority's resolution of censure.

At the Kpando Traditional Council's inauguration, Della Sowah, a Kpando Member of Parliament, mocked the Majority's behaviour.

"We also put forward a motion; we wanted to call for the dismissal of the Finance Minister; we signed it; I was one of the signatories.

"Unfortunately, however, 96 of our colleagues from the other side [the Majority] came up and indicated they would back us, giving us the majority we needed to have him [Ken Ofori-Atta] impeached.

"Unfortunately, they chickened out, and we realised that they didn't have the guys, which is why they did it. They were bragging, "We have the guys, we have the men," but I believe they realised they had to back down when they realised there would be no one to take his position if he were to be removed. She emphasised that "they don't have the guys."

Madam Sowah also provided information on the last session and her efforts on the floor, reiterating her commitment to the Constituency to advocate for development initiatives.

Akpinifia Okpekpewuokpe Dagadu IX praised the MP's contribution to the growth of the Kpando Traditional Area and urged her office to keep working with the Municipal Assembly to foster growth in the region.

He voiced objections to the names chosen for the government's street naming initiative and expressed the opinion that the streets of Kpando should be named after distinguished descendants of the Akpini people rather than foreign names.

The Ghana National Petroleum Commission funded the Traditional Council structure with support from other organisations.
