Jamie Carragher believes Tottenham need to sign four new first-team players to compete with the Premier League's best teams.
Spurs looked set to have a great evening at Manchester City on Thursday as he led 20 at half time.
However, the Premier League champions fought back in the second half, winning 42, leaving Antonio Conte's team in fifth place, placing him five points away from the Champions' league standings.
Conte did a great job last season in securing Spurs a place in the Champions League, but Carragher doesn't see them progressing, mainly because of their strong defense.
The Liverpool legend believes that his two goalkeepers, Hugo He Loris, at centre-back and right-back, need to be replaced by better players if Spurs are to grow. "He (Conte) can't rely on back threes, back fives or goalkeepers to keep a clean sheet. He always feels like they're going to concede," Carragher told Sky Sports.
"He's not going to change his tactics. He does. He relies on a good strong base and a great offensive player to counterattack.
"He has great attacking players, but his goalkeeper and defenders are not good enough for Conte's side to succeed and that's why they struggle.
"Tottenham's goalkeeper at the moment, he was a good goalkeeper, but now he's taken responsibility. They need a new goalkeeper for next season. "Antonio Conte talks about pushing them further and reaching the top four or fighting for the big prize.
"They need new goalkeepers. They need two centre-backs and a right-back, but they shouldn't be in the team, they should be playing."
