Jamie Redknapp has not approved of Rio Ferdinand after Leandro Trossard made his Arsenal debut against Manchester United on Sunday. After hijacking interest, it made a deal that could be as high as £27 million.
Chelsea have been eyeing Mudryk, his £88m deal from Shakhtar Donetsk, but Arsenal are leading his January transfer window.
And the 22-year-old winger showed exactly what his league can expect after coming off the bench in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Liverpool.
After full-time, Ferdinand said he believes the Gunners should have regretted missing Madrick after being impressed by the Chelsea arc at Anfield. "No one knows what he will come up with next, but it will be exciting for Chelsea fans," Ferdinand told BT Sport.
"Arsenal fans will sit there and say, 'Oh my God, how did you let it go?'"
But Redknapp believes Trossard will prove to be a worthy replacement after his high profile cameo against United.
He even said the Belgian international could be a steal after Arsenal initially paid him £22m for his services.
Redknapp told his Sky Sports:
"Arsenal would have panicked. When they didn't sign Madrik in the transfer market, they might have thought it was a big mistake on their part." "But they have already shown with their 15-minute cameo that Trossard could be a great deal for them.
"[He] has great qualities. He's comfortable on the ball and he's going forward. He's the quintessential Arsenal player, if you ask me.
Leandro Trossard made his Arsenal debut against Manchester United: "He's a good footballer who can score and score goals. He's a good gainer and at £22m he's a real bargain from their point of view."
Trossard joins Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Lowe and Fabio Viera in Mikel Arteta's exciting assault regiment.
And the 28-year-old, who has traded as a left winger at Brighton, has hinted that he's ready to make a central impact when Arteta needs cover.
