Thomas Partey, a Ghanaian midfielder, played the entire game as Arsenal defeated Manchester United 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Partey was outstanding in central midfield for the Gunners as they saw off the in-form Red Devils thanks to a last-gasp strike by compatriot Eddie Nketiah.

Since the Premier League resumed after the World Cup break, the league leaders have been a nightmare.

Marcus Rashford continued his recent run of excellent performances with the opening goal, while Eddie Nketiah's double in the 24th and 90th minutes secured the Gunners all three points in the matchday 21 clash in North London. In the 53rd minute, Christian Eriksen stood off Bukayo Saka, who nipped the ball onto his left foot outside the box and fired past David de Gea to make it 2-1 for Arsenal.

Six minutes later, the Red Devils, who had been dangerously pressing throughout the game, equalized when Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez headed home after the Gunners failed to clear a corner.

The result keeps Mikel Arteta's side atop the league table, with United in fourth place with 39 points.

Martinez was next to me, so I thought I was there, but when I see that purple screen, it always moves me a little bit.

This is Arsenal's best points tally at this stage of the Premier League season, but they haven't quite achieved it. With the score level with seconds remaining, Nketiah were sidelined by Lisandro Martinez and homered a shot from Martin Odegaard to secure a memorable win. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was shown a yellow card by referee Anthony Taylor after Luke Shaw fouled towering Bukayo Saka.

Eight minutes after the restart, it was Saka who gave Arsenal the lead with a stunning 25-yard drive.

Aaron Ramsdale made a fine save to prevent Rashford from equalizing, but a corner kick caused a mismatch between the goalkeeper and Takehiro Tomiyasu, allowing Martinez to score United's first goal. With new signing Leandro Trossard as a substitute, Arsenal stepped up the pressure in the closing stages, with a winner from Nketia enraging the Emirates.

Arteta said:

"We never panicked and kept believing it. Emotional, lots of passion and lots of quality. It doesn't get much better.
