Manchester United saw Paul Pogba join Juventus in the summer.
After Juventus dropped 15 points recently, some Manchester United fans took to social media to clamor for Paul Pogba's return. However, given the midfielder's previous comments, that doesn't seem likely. It's not far off either.
United returned Pogba to Old Trafford in the 2016 summer transfer window in what they believed would be their ticket to Premier League title glory. Despite winning the EFL Cup and Europa League in his first season with the club, his homecoming in Hollywood did not go well.
Pogba returned in the summer after failing to receive the new contract offer he wanted.
However, his second appearance for Juventus also did not go well.
On Friday, the Serie A giants were docked by 15 points following a review of past transfer deals. fans to seek his return. However, comments from last year's midfielder suggest he would never consider it. He first targeted how the club handled his situation, claiming they had offered him a "nothing" contract.
In an Amazon Prime documentary titled "The Pogmentary," Pogba said:
"My thought process is to show that I made a mistake by waiting for Manchester [United] to give me a contract.
"And to show other clubs that Manchester made a mistake by not offering me a contract."
He also added:
"How can you say you really want something from a player and you're not giving them anything? I've never seen it."
And Pogba revealed in September how happy he was at Juventus after leaving United.
"I think it was my heart that made the decision to come back to Juventus and I want to say that it might have been the right time to come back here," Pogba told GQ Italia.
"The last three years in Manchester have not gone my way, with injuries, and it's no mystery.
"Juventus was born out of his two years failing to win a Scudetto. It was a good challenge for both of us, and maybe it was the right time to come together and try to reclaim our rightful place:
me and juventus
“In my heart I know this jersey is very special. It brings me the best. “Coming back here is always a reason to push me harder and encourage me to do better. There was not."
United are planning a bright future with Erik ten Hag at the helm. And that means Pogba will be gone, no matter what happens in Italy.
Juventus, aware of the devastating blow to Champions League qualification, will appeal the penalty.
And it remains to be seen if the penalty will be maintained.
Meanwhile, former United star Jesse Lingard believes the Red Devils are responsible for Pogba's production failure.
"There is no control, no structure, no balance. People do what they want. It's like free participation," he said.
"Like Paul, he's one of the best midfielders in the world and I've known him since he was 16. 'Something is wrong because it didn't happen at United'
