The government has been urged to build a hospital specifically for the treatment of breast cancer and malignancies that are associated with it Mr. Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, the executive director of the Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF).

According to him, breast cancer appears to be among the worst diseases in the world, and the government has to focus on treating it because of the disease's alarmingly high rate of infections and fatalities.

To streamline the Foundation's activities in Accra, Mr. Kwarteng made the call during the opening of the office there at Mataheko-Dansoman. In honor of Mrs. Amina Oppong Kwarteng, who passed away from breast cancer on July 18, 2022, in Turkey, the Foundation was established on October 6, 2022, in Accra.

MBCF has been inundated with requests for assistance with breast cancer across the nation just a few short months after its debut.

According to him, the Office would support Foundation initiatives so that patients could receive financial help and counseling services while undergoing treatment.

He said, "It is to inform the public of the location of an Office where they may find financial assistance for breast cancer treatment.

The Foundation will break ground on its first Breast Cancer Screening Center at Potsin T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (AMASS) in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, according to Mr. Kwarteng, next week.

"We are cutting the sod next week so that building can begin. We have already purchased sand and blocks, and we have some money on hand. We are looking at three to four months to complete it," he added.

As most of the towns where the facilities will be located lack medical facilities, the executive director stated that the facility would contain a theatre and a sizable room for screening services and other health services.

He said that because his wife had her secondary education there and because the Potsin institution lacked a clinic, there were some sentimental connections.

According to him, the Center set out to lower the death rate from breast cancer while launching a year-round campaign for early identification and treatment.

The Center, which would be created in a few senior high schools around the nation, would assist raise cancer awareness among students in second-cycle institutions, according to the Executive Director.

Mr. Kwarteng asked people to periodically check their breasts, not just during October, which has been set aside for raising awareness of and educating people about breast cancer.

He said, "It is a comprehensive instructional and sensitization program that goes beyond educational institutions.

He said that the Foundation will go to several places to spread awareness of breast cancer and the foods that those who had the condition should avoid eating.

We have absolutely failed as a nation, he claimed, since we have misunderstood the dynamics of cancer and don't seem to comprehend how serious the condition is.

Mr. Eric Brobbey, an oncology nurse at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, expressed enthusiasm for the Foundation's intentions to begin patient financial assistance and sensitization from Senior High Schools.
